A photo-to-music app that suggests eight songs and explains how each fits the lighting and scene. Winner of Best Use of Gemma 4.
Overview
I led implementation of Vibe Check at MLH Hacktoberfest Hack Day Pittsburgh in October 2026, where it won Best Use of Gemma 4. The Next.js app uses Gemma to estimate six mood dimensions from a photo, then ranks songs deterministically and explains the matches.
What I built
- Led implementation of a Next.js app that recommends eight songs for a photo, with explanations tied to its lighting and scene.
- Ranked songs over six Gemma-estimated mood dimensions with deterministic ranking.
- Validated model output with Zod and allowed at most one retry within a 100-second deadline.
